PRODUCT DETAILS

ASTM A709-50W is a standard specification for structural steel primarily in the fabrication of steel bridges.

ASTM A 709 Gr.50W steel is often specified with charpy tests referencing the specific zone (or climatic region) in which the bridge will be in use.A709 Grade 50W is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.

ASTM A709 Grade 50W equal grade are EN10155 :S355K2G1W,NFA 35-502,E 36 WB 4 .A709 Grade 50W is the specification used for steel plate used in the manufacture of bridges.

ASTM A709-50W covers high strength, low allow steel structural shapes, plates and bars. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of this steel in most environments is substantially better than carbon steel with or without copper addition. ASTM A709-50W shall have an atmospheric corrosion index of 6.00 or higher. When properly designed and exposed to the atmosphere, A709-50W is suitable for many applications in the bare (unpainted) condition such as:

Pedestrian Bridges

1. Highway Bridge girders and other bridge components

2. Railroad bridges and overpasses

3. ASTM A709-50W has a 50ksi minimum yield strength and a 70ksi minimum tensile strength.

4. Chemical composition(mass fraction)(wt.%) of the A709 Gr.50W
